Switch is an all electronic
UK debit card payment system and is one of the UK's most popular ways to
pay for goods, services - and online gambling.
Switch debit cards give you
direct access to your current account 24 hrs a day.
In the United Kingdom all
Switch and Solo debit cards have Maestro capability in order to allow card
holders to make payments outside the UK. As of 2004 Switch is being gradually
rebranded as Maestro, an international debit card brand; however only the
brand is being adopted - transactions will still be processed by the Switch
system (remember the penguin advertisements?)
